The voice behind Mother & Matriarch

Meet Erin

I started Mother & Matriarch because I couldn’t find a space that spoke honestly about what it means to be a 9-5 working mum today – to lead, nurture, and hold so much, without the village we were promised, and without the flexibility of self-employed influencers and entrepreneurs.

When my own mum passed away when I was 12, I lost not just her presence but her guidance. Motherhood arrived without a map on the cusp of the pandemic, and I spent years trying to prove I could manage it all: a busy career, home life, step-family, kids, health, and purpose.

Eventually, burnout forced me to rebuild – more softly this time. That journey led me to redefine what balance and self-care really mean for women who work, care, and give endlessly. I retrained as a holistic health coach on the side and made it my mission to help women feel seen – whether at work, among friends or in the supermarket queue.

A working mum with wavy brown hair, wearing a floral patterned blouse, sitting at a desk with a laptop. She is smiling confidently as she has found balance from burnout in her approach to parenting, her career and homelife.

Who am I to speak on this?

Although I’m not a CEO making six figures, I do proudly head up the group marketing for a leading UK B2B company while raising my two sons and co-parenting our stepson. I’m also juggling a home renovation, trying to be a better friend, and showing up for myself with small acts of self-care every day.

That’s why you’ll find me on Substack – pouring my honest lessons into letters for other mums who are also in the thick of juggling it all. I’m building the village I wish I’d had sooner, so I’d love for you to join me.

I’m also proudly certified as a Nutritional Advisor and Fitness Instructor. Having run women’s Wellness Workout classes both in-person and online, I’ve now poured my heart into several programmes to make mental and physical health resets even more accessible for the women whose time and money are allocated to childcare.

It’s not always about looking a certain way, it’s about finding small ways to come back to the woman we lost in motherhood, and rebuilding an even stronger version for the future.

My mission with Mother & Matriarch is simple: to help working women like us redefine success, reclaim our energy, and live more intentionally – without guilt.

If that sounds like you, welcome home. ♥
